Box Set Challenge Winners

After a busy few weeks of research, hot glue, and creativity, Mrs Neighbour — Bea’s mum, who used to be a professional set designer — came to judge the three winning box sets and to share some of her expertise with the children. She brought along her own original workbook, which included designs for Waiting for Godot and one of Eddie Izzard’s performances. The children found it incredibly inspiring.

LouLou and Jessie won with their interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, featuring a swimming pool, a sweeping staircase, and working lights. Second place went to Angel and Lula for their thoughtful representation of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, which included a handmade barbed wire fence and excellent use of natural materials and props referenced from the book. In third place was Abla’s Mamma Mia set, which was carefully hand-built and beautifully painted.

It was wonderful to showcase the children’s creative talents and to take some time to review and reflect on all they had achieved.
